Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim vs. Scrolls
In today's WTF news, the creator of Minecraft, Markus "Notch" Persson, has come under legal attack from Bethesda recently due to the naming of his studio's (Majong) new game, which is Scrolls. Bethesda considers this too close to their established Elder Scrolls series so they want Notch to change the name of his game and are willing to take him to court over it.

Notch's answer to this? He prefers a multiplayer deathmatch over a legal battle. He has challenged Bethesda to a Quake III 3v3 match, each company chooses one map and highest total frag count wins. If Notch's team wins, then Bethesda drops the lawsuit. If Bethesda wins, then Notch changes the name to something that Bethesda doesn't have a trademark on.

We support this notion of keeping a petty lawsuit out of the courts and letting the companies settle it like true gamers should-- in a Quake deathmatch. Come on Bethesda, time to man up and accept the challenge.

The next Call of Duty game comes out in November! If you're not saying "another one?" right about now, I don't know what's wrong with you. The Call of Duty franchise has had a new game released almost every year. Somehow, they have avoided the adjectives, "repetitive" and "unnecessary". With that in mind, I have to admit that this is a welcomed and highly necessary upcoming addition...

Thanks to Dorkly (via Joystiq) we see what it would be like if Mega Man gained a Portal Gun. Granted, this is nothing we'll ever actually see, but with the cancellations of Mega Man Legends 3 and Mega Man Universe, this is the closest we'll get to new Mega Man action this year. (Damn you Capcom!) So enjoy this Mega Man fans, it's the only good thing to happen to the series since Mega Man 9 was released in 2008.

Bioware, the stellar company behind such hit franchises Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Neverwinter Nights and the original Knights of the Old Republic, have been very hard at work over the past five years on Star Wars: The Old Republic. What is The Old Republic (TOR) you ask? It's the massively multiplayer online role playing game (MMORPG) being collaborated along with Lucasarts. And this my friends, will be a Star Wars MMO done right. (I'm looking at you Star Wars: Galaxies

Gaming is not life, contrary to the popular stereotype of our generation. While I will be the first to admit that my love for gaming goes beyond just a man with a controller; I know that 6 plus hours a day might be a bit excessive. How much do we really need video games? Do they honestly do anything for us? I seem to be pondering these questions more and more everyday....
